Overview:
Purpose: To use a systematic approach to identify national family practice (FP) nursing competencies to support the integration and optimization of Registered Nurses (RNs) in primary care.
Research Aims:
To develop an initial draft of FP nursing competencies and obtain national agreement regarding these competencies;
To assess the extent to which Canadian undergraduate baccalaureate and post-graduate FP nursing programs have incorporated the identified FP nursing competencies into their curriculum; and
To assess the learning needs and practices of FP nurses with regards to the identified FP nursing competencies across Canada.
